On Monday 27th of May, 2019, the Hellenic ORNITHOLOGICAL SOCIETY as a beneficiary of the European project WILDLIFEFOREVER, organized an educational seminar aimed at training and informing employees in charge of relevant services and involved actors, who are active in the Greek countryside and are faced with cases of poisoning in the field.

The event was attended by employees of three beneficiaries of the project: the Hellenic ORNITHOLOGICAL SOCIETY, the Decentralized Administration of Eastern Macedonia - Thrace and specifically its Forest Directorates, as well as the Region of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace (Lead Beneficiary). In addition, representatives of the Delta Nestos-Vistonida-Ismarida & Thassos Management Body, the Rodopi Mountain Range Management Agency and Hunting Organizations participated.

After the interesting presentations related to the unfortunate but current and frequent phenomenon of the illegal use of poisoned baits, a demonstration by the Poisoning Detectives Group of the Hellenic ORNITHOLOGICAL Society followed, which was carried out by Victoria Saravia and the specially trained dog, Ioli, who managed to detect the poisoned baits that were placed for the occasion, outside the Kavala Forest Service.
